FavicoLab's Favicon Maker

We use this in the README and copy-paste code snippet. It does not print on the icon itself.
A large square source works best (transparent PNG or SVG recommended).

Upload one image — get every icon you need

FavicoLab's Favicon Maker is a fast, browser-based favicon generator that turns a single PNG, JPG, WEBP or SVG into a complete favicon pack for your site. In one pass you get all the essential PNG sizes, an optional multi-size favicon.ico, and a ready-to-use site.webmanifest for modern browsers and PWAs.

The tool is built for front-end developers, designers, indie makers and site owners who are tired of guessing which favicon sizes are needed or copy-pasting snippets from random tutorials. Instead of spending an afternoon reading docs, you upload one image, download a clean ZIP, and paste the snippet into your site’s <head>. Your tabs, bookmarks and mobile home-screen icons stay consistent and on-brand.

What the generator creates for you

  • Pixel-perfect PNG icons for 16×16, 32×32, 180×180, 192×192 and 512×512.
  • Optional multi-size favicon.ico (16/32/48).
  • An optional site.webmanifest with Add-to-Home / PWA-ready icons.
  • A README.txt with upload paths and ready-to-paste <link> tags.

How to use this favicon generator

  1. Enter your brand or site name (used in README + manifest only).
  2. Upload a square source image (transparent PNG or SVG recommended).
  3. Click Generate favicons (ZIP) to create the pack.
  4. Unzip and upload the files to /assets/img/favicons/ (or your preferred folder).
  5. Paste the generated <link> tags into your site’s <head>.

Security & privacy

FavicoLab is privacy-friendly by design: no signup, no tracking pixels, and no marketing cookies. Your images are processed only long enough to generate the favicon pack and are automatically deleted soon after. You retain full rights to your artwork — FavicoLab simply produces the correct favicon formats and sizes. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.

FAQ — FavicoLab's Favicon Maker

Which file types can I upload?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, and SVG. If Imagick isn’t available on the server, SVG uploads are rejected — use a transparent PNG instead.

Are there size limits?

Max ~8 MB per file. Safety caps are ≈ 5000 px per side and ≈ 20 MP total to prevent “image bomb” issues.

What files do I get?

favicon.ico (16/32/48), PNGs (16×16, 32×32, 180, 192, 512), an optional site.webmanifest, and a README with ready-to-paste <link> tags.

How do I install them?

Upload all generated files to /assets/img/favicons/ (or your chosen folder) and paste the provided tags into your site’s <head>. Clear cache and reload.

My browser still shows the old favicon. What now?

Favicons are heavily cached. Hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R), clear site data, and consider cache-busting (e.g., ?v=2) on icon URLs.

Why didn’t an ICO file get generated?

ICO generation requires Imagick. Without Imagick, you’ll still get PNGs, but no favicon.ico. Enable Imagick on the server for ICO output.

SVG upload fails — what can I do?

If Imagick isn’t installed or is restricted by policy.xml, SVG can’t be rasterized. Convert your SVG to a high-res PNG and upload that.

The icons look blurry — any tips?

Start with a crisp, square source (e.g., 1024×1024). High contrast and simple shapes work best at 16×16. Transparent PNG or clean SVG is ideal.

Can I use the generated icons commercially?

Yes. The tool is free to use for personal and commercial projects. You’re responsible for rights to the artwork you upload.

Does it work for PWAs?

Yes — the generator can include a ready site.webmanifest with 192×192 and 512×512 icons. Add it to your <head> and test “Add to Home screen.”

Do you store my images?

Only temporarily to build the ZIP. Files are auto-deleted shortly after generation. Always save your ZIP if you’ll need it again.
